Zoning Map Classifications Business District

(From ARTICLE XI of City Ordinances, Appendix A)

BP-Business and Professional; BR-Retail Sales and Services and Wholesaling; BA-Automotive Oriented Business; BW-Warehousing. Within these districts, as shown on the Zoning Map of the City of Panama City Beach, Florida, the following regulations shall apply:

Section 2.Uses Permitted:

1 BP Districts. Business, professional and personal services, apartments, apartment hotels, hotels, motels, retail sales, and mini-warehouses.

2 BR Districts. Business, professional, personal services and retail sales and services and wholesaling and mini-warehouses as defined in this ordinance. Drive-in restaurants and drive-in theaters shall be prohibited in this district.

3 BA Districts. Uses permitted in the BA Districts shall includeall uses permitted in the BR, and other BP districts, and in addition, automotive service facilities including service station, minor and major repairs, the sale of new and used automobiles, drive-in facilities and mini-warehouses.

4 BW Districts. Uses permitted within this district shall include usespermitted in all other business districts, and in addition, warehousing, mini-warehouses, trucking, freight, moving and storage.

Section 3. Lot and Building Requirements.

Minimum front yard 25 ft.
Minimum side yard:  
One story 5 ft.
Two stories 7 1/2 ft.
Three stories 10 ft.
Four stories and over 10 ft. Plus 4" per each foot of bldg. height over 40 ft.
Minimum side yard, street 10 ft.
Minimum rear yard 10 ft. Plus 4" per each foot of bldg. height over 40 ft.


Except as otherwise provided in these regulations there shall be no lot or building requirements. However, all uses are subject to the required minimum setback from the centerline of all street as provided under the Article V of this Ordinance.

Section 4. Additionally, on any lot in a business district zone which abuts a lot lying within a residential zone or tourist zone, there shall be provided a minimum setback of five (5) feet for the principal building and accessory buildings on the property in the business zone along property lines abutting properties existing within a residential or tourist zone.
