The Reserve and Auxiliary Unit consists of personnel who donate a great portion of their time assisting the patrol function. They perform their duties as police officers during the city's busiest times, such as Spring Break and major holiday weekends. Within this unit, there are four separate entities which consist of walking beats, bicycle patrols, all-terrain vehicles, and prisoner transport. These entities work hand in hand with the uniform patrol officers to patrol roadway shoulders, parking lots, and the sandy portions of the Beach. They also assist in special events throughout the summer tourist season.
